Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
Hey y'all. My name is Shana and I'm a nursing instructor and I'm doing a series on preparing for nursing school and this is day eight and we're going to be covering what to bring to class with you for nursing school. So a lot of times my students coming in first semester logging like two bags like they're coming prepared with everything and anything. So I'm going to break down what you need for class in nursing school, okay? So the first thing is obviously going to be something to take notes on. Um your laptop if you prefer typing, um your iPad, if you have an iPad iPad and you prefer writing on your iPad to take notes. If you're traditional, bring yourself a notebook or the PowerPoint print it out. When I was a nursing school, I printed out the PowerPoint with the note section and brought it to class and then listened and wrote notes or circle things on the PowerPoint, um that the instructor like, you know, pointed out was very important or, you know, added to the slide. So that's what you need to bring first off is something to write on tech notes. A lot of you guys on your iPad, download the PowerPoint point to your iPad. Um I really love ubiquity. It's a great app um for uploading your PowerPoint two and taking notes on your PowerPoint there. So you can check that out if you're interested. Um number two, the second thing you're going to need is your textbook or your material that you're given for that lecture, okay? Number three, you're going to need pins, pencils or highlighters. All three preferably because you never know when you're going to need it. Um number four is bring your questions from your lecture to prep, okay? So you should be prepping for lecture before you come to class. Okay? That's one thing that's a little different about nursing school. You should read or look over your materials before class. Not anything crazy. Like I'm not talking about six hours of prep. I'm just talking about like 30 minutes to an hour of reading over and looking over, you know, the chapter, the PowerPoint, whatever it is for that class and write down questions. Like physically write them down and bring them with you to ask your instructor, okay? Um my fifth thing is bring a drink or a snack, okay? Nursing school lectures can get very lengthy sometimes. So make sure you come prepared to that you can stay awake and engaged um in the lectures. So always bring a drink and a snack. Um the sixth thing you need to bring is your planner. Bring that thing with you everywhere, especially if it's a hard copy. Now if it's on your phone or if it's like on your iPad, that's cool too, but you always want to have your planner with you because a lot of times in nursing class, they'll be like, okay, write this down, you have this dude. at this time and you don't want to be without, you know, having it like written down in your planner because we know that planning is super important in nursing school, okay? So bring your planner. And then the last thing that I will say that students forget all the time is a charger. Bring a charger for any electronic device that you are bringing with you to class because again, classes can get long and you're going to need something um to charge it if that's what you're taking notes on because then you're left hand draw if it runs out of charge. Okay? So that's what you should bring to class with you. If you have any questions, please let me know. Tomorrow we're going to be talking about nursing school exams and what to expect for those. This is going to be a great video. So y'all tune in for that and let me know if you have any questions.
