[ THINGS TO DO ] THIS BRISBANE CINEMA SITS INSIDE A 1920’S HERITAGE BUILDING THAT WAS ONCE BURNT DOWN 🔥🎥 Red Hill Cinemas is one of the most unusual places to catch a film in Brisbane, and the building has the backstory to match. It opened in 2019 inside a heritage listed shell that started as a 1920s picture palace, ran as a roller skating rink for nearly four decades, then sat derelict after an arson fire. The owners kept the graffiti that street artists left on the walls, so you watch new releases surrounded by colour and history. THE GOLD ROOM EXPERIENCE 🍿 Seat service: In the four Gold Room cinemas you settle into a reclining leather armchair and have food, drinks and desserts brought straight to your seat. 🍸 Licensed bar: A fully licensed bar means you can order a wine, beer or cocktail and take it in with you. 🎬 Five screens: Four intimate Gold Rooms plus one larger traditional cinema, showing new releases and quality arthouse films. THE BUILDING WITH A PAST 🏚️ Heritage site: The building dates to the 1920s and is on the Brisbane Heritage Register. 🛼 Skate arena days: From 1965 it ran for years as the much loved Red Hill Skate Arena before an arson fire gutted it in 2002. 🎨 Kept street art: After it sat empty, artists covered the walls, and that artwork was retained as a feature when it reopened as a cinema. GOOD TO KNOW 🚌 Red Hill sits about 3km from the CBD and is serviced by multiple bus routes, with street parking around the area. 🎟️ Gold Room and standard sessions both run daily. Check current session times before you book. 📍 Red Hill Cinemas is located at 14 Enoggera Terrace, Red Hill. Who are you taking with you? Repost to share the love 🫶🏻
