Why it worked

The video taps into the common 'TBR anxiety' experienced by many readers, particularly those who enjoy fantasy and classic literature. By showcasing massive or thematically heavy books, the creator creates relatable content that resonates with a specific niche within BookTok.

Summary

The creator discusses three daunting books on their physical TBR: "The Way of Kings" by Brandon Sanderson, "Alchemised" by Senlinyu, and "Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoevsky. They express intimidation by the size and content of these books but also excitement to eventually read them.

Structure

1Introduction to daunting books
2Discussing "The Way of Kings"
3Showcasing "Alchemised"
4Presenting "Crime and Punishment"
5Concluding with a question to the audience

Product placement

The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (ACTS - the book is shown and discussed as a significant item in the creator's collection, and its size and content are central to the video's narrative. Removing it would change the video's purpose. It is a book, so ecom > other_ecom). Alchemised by Senlinyu (ACTS - the book is shown and discussed as a significant item in the creator's collection, and its aesthetic and content are central to the video's narrative. Removing it would change the video's purpose. It is a book, so ecom > other_ecom). Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky (ACTS - the book is shown and discussed as a significant item in the creator's collection, and its size and content are central to the video's narrative. Removing it would change the video's purpose. It is a book, so ecom > other_ecom).
