nobody wants to work anymore

I'm so sick of having a follow up with everyone for everything and I don't know if it's a lack of professionalism or just bad customer service. I don't know what the right term is for this, but I swear that nobody wants to work anymore and nobody wants to do their jobs. I know that's a massive generalization, but it's the only way that I can put it into words. Example number one, I went to my primary care physician last Thursday and the whole point of the visit was for me to get a prescription refill. I leave the office, they're like, we're going to call it in today. I'm like, amazing. I check back on Thursday, I check back on Friday and today is Monday and they still have not called in my medication. So I follow up with them this morning and I'm like, hey, like where's my medication? They're like, oh, we're so sorry, things got really busy. Um, we'll call it in today. Right now it's 3:00 p.m. on Monday and they still haven't called it in. I called them first thing in the morning at 8:00 a.m. and I'll obviously give them till the end of the day, but this is consistent behavior for my doctor's office. They, luckily for me, this isn't life-saving medication, so that's fine, but what if it was? And that's not really the point, right? The point is that this is people's health and you are just not taking it seriously and I just think it's unacceptable. Another recent example, I just did a UGC deal with a pretty big brand. It's a company that a lot of people would know. They have hundreds of employees, whatever, legitimate deal, formally signed contract and they had 30 days to pay me from the date that we decided my deliverables were good to go. 30 days come and go and now it's been two weeks past the 30-day period that they had and they still haven't paid me. I've been in touch with the team that, um, originally contacted me, so I followed up with them. I followed up with their accounting department. The accounting department kind of keeps like putting me to the curb, being like, it's coming, it's coming, but I keep following up like every other day because I'm going to be annoying, I don't care. It's absolutely unacceptable to not pay creators, freelancers. Are, would you not pay your full-time employees on time? Like that's not how that works. I actually heard that the influencer creator space is like notorious for this where brands take a really long time to pay creators and I think that's unacceptable. I just think it doesn't matter if the payout is a dollar, $100, a million dollars. You are a legitimate company, you're a business and you are paying people late and that's not okay. I just think that someone somewhere like doesn't care and thinks it's okay to just not do their job. And then I think if the roles were flipped, right? Like I get charged $50, I'm pretty sure if I'm late to the doctor, but they're usually always late to see me. And then the brand that I was just talking about, I'm sure if I was two weeks late on my deliverables, I would have gotten some stern emails already and they probably would never work with me again. These examples, it could be more random, but I swear this type of shit happens all the time and maybe I'm just older now and life has always been this way and I'm just noticing it, but I just swear like nobody wants to work or everyone's like outsourcing their job to AI and things are falling in the cracks. I don't know. I don't know, but it's driving me nuts.
