The loneliest part about working in sales:

You wanna know the loneliest part about working in sales? No one else in the company deals with the type of stress that you do. Not marketing, not engineers, down the hall, not even sales management because they've long since forgot. None of them go home at the end of the week, month, quarter, year, pay period, whatever, wondering if their job is still going to exist. You do. Every single day. Every other department in the company has a giant cushion period and grace period of non-performance. The productivity misses of a launch date, like literally no one cares. If the marketing team runs a campaign that doesn't convert, they need to test more, copy. If finance puts out a forecast that's completely wrong, no one puts them on a pip. HR, legal, operations, like literally all of them can have a bad month. A lot of them can have like two bad years in a row and still not get fired. But if you miss two months in a row, suddenly they're concerned. Suddenly there's a meeting with HR. Suddenly you're not a fit for where the company's going. You're the only person in the company whose employment within the business is up for renewal every 30, 60, 90 days. And here's the thing. Back in November of 2016, I decided enough is enough. And I started to start my own business. And most people will tell you, oh, starting a business is hard, it's risky, it's scary, it's terrifying. Many of them fail. But you know what? The day I actually walked in and quit my job, knowing that I had a business cooking on the side, was the most peaceful day of my life. Because for the first time, I knew that nobody else was in charge of my compensation other than me. I had closed one client, I knew that I could close more. And I'd already closed many clients before I went ahead and quit my job.
