Hook
This is one of the saddest news that's happening right now in Guyana. There's an ongoing search and rescue happening for about 60 people that's missing. 26 people are rescued, they're currently in the hospital right now. Apparently this was an 80-year-old ferry. The stories from the survivors are so sad. There was this 9-year-old, um, she realized that she can swim, so she started swimming and saved another girl. And she saw her mom on the mattress, so she went there, um, unfortunately she lost her brother. Another man, he was sleeping in the hammock in the boat when he was woken up by the loud noises, so he realized what was happening, he started swimming to survive. Um, unfortunately, he's, um, tons of people missing. And it's really sad with a ferry like this, it should have lifeboats attached on the side, along with lots of floaties, lots of life vests. Today's the first day that Guyana is mourning all of the missing people. My heart, my heart breaks for the families and the people who lost their loved ones. And I don't want to say the wrong things, call the wrong facts, so I'm just waiting for more information to come out, but I just want to let you know what's happening right now in Guyana as I just found out last night. And also the 9-year-old girl, her story really struck me because she was like, what wrong with me, you know, to swim? And I think I hope that parents who have younger ones take them to swimming lessons. I hope it doesn't cost an arm and a fortune, but I think it's super important to implement for unexpected moments like this. Even me as a guy, I can't swim, only imagine all the other people who were on the ferry when this was happening, how they were feeling. Oh, and I will be following up on the story. So if I know anything new, I will let you know. But my thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends in Guyana of this horrible tragedy with the MV Barima ferry.
