Day 15 — July 22/26 As you’ll notice, today’s walking video takes a bit of a different spin. :)
Today, I’m opening a small window for you to see some of the struggle, some of the choices I have to consider before every move I make. And how it impacts me. Normally, I speed videos up to 2.0 for the sake of keeping videos short and sweet and to the point. This time you are seeing my walk in real SLOW time.
I always begin at the couch. This is where I spend my days except for toileting and going to bed. We used to wait until I made it to the front door to start the recording, rather than bore you with footage of me trying to get to my feet. But you know what? It’s all part of the process and every step is important. So tonight I’m showing you the raw… the painful struggle to get to my feet. Now normally, I would head to the front door, then to the back, to the front, to the back, and I would end there by going to bed.
However tonight, I really needed to go to the toilet. It is just not possible at this time to “run to the washroom real quick” then come back and start my walk. No, I have to strategize and plan this out to make sure I am still alive by the end of the trail. So then plan was: up from the couch, to the front door, to the back door, to the front again, to the back, then to the washroom, then back to the couch.
Well, as you may have noticed, my new shoes arrived today. They are a hiking shoe. They are rugged, well built, and sturdy. They fit perfectly and I love them already. But, they are clunkier than my bare feet, it feels like they slow me down a little and I’m a bit cautious with them as I get used to them, lest I fall and break something. We don’t want that to happen.
The backs of my leg muscles were cramping up badly, I was running out of steam quicker than usual, so on my way to the back door the final time, I had to stop at the washroom and get my air for a while. Then, I was able to recover enough to try to get to the back door, then to the couch. That would have been enough. But something in my, perhaps in the spirit of celebration of making it to day 15, something wanted me to push to the front door one last time before arriving in the living room at the couch.
Spoiler alert!
I DID IT. But it did not come without a lot of “blood, sweat and tears”. No, I don’t mean blood in a literal sense I just mean, I felt absolutely and completely WRECKED in many moments of that trail.
Fun fact: Tonight’s walk took 2:11 which is exactly 60 seconds longer than my very first Day 1 walk video. Now, I cannot promise I will be able to achieve this exact route or time frame every day going forward, but I am going to show up as much as I can in the ways that I can and keep moving forward.
You guys are such an encouragement to me. Your comments leave me smiling and your DMs with your journeys shared are so special. So thanks for listening and being here for this journey. K, good night everyone! #vulnerablepost #600lbs #myreality #struggle #keepmovingforward
