I had 60 stitches in my face

Replying to @peach I had Moh’s surgery to remove Basal Cell Carcinoma which left me with 60 stitches and lots of trauma. When I saw my face for the first time with all those stitches I contemplated ending my life. I didn’t recognize myself and the shock was overwhelming. If you’re going through this, if you’re recovering from surgery or you were just in an accident, I understand exactly how you feel. So, I know what you’re going through, and I wish someone had given me a step-by- step guide on how to heal my scar. Here’s everything I did over the last 3 years to heal my scar part 1, in a 5 part series @Dr. Prem Tripathi & @Dermguru please tell me if I missed anything The most important first step is to let your wound heal. ❌You CANNOT use any scar gels or silicone products for the first 8 weeks. When I heard that it made me crazy because I felt like I wasn’t doing enough but trust me this first step is crucial that you do less not more. ✅The only thing you need to do in the first 8 weeks is keep it clean, keep it moist and keep it out of the sun. I was terrified of touching my stitches or even looking at my scar, so I got @Cetaphil US foaming cleanser. The light bubbles created a layer that helped me from feeling my stitches/scar when was washing it and the foam was easier to rinse off. And it’s not as irritating as real soap. I cannot imagine rubbing a bar of soap over stitches. OUCH! After washing it every night I would slather it with @AquaphorUS and put a clean bandage on it. My surgery was the at end of July so I couldn’t avoid the sun and I still needed to keep it slathered with Aquaphor and I was terrified to put any spf on it because it was still healing so I wore a bandage to protect it from the sun and keep it from drying out. If you have stitches right now or you just got stitches out, this is all you need to do for 8 weeks. ▪️Wash it with light foamy cleanser ▪️Slather it in Aquaphor ▪️Keep it covered Come back for part 2 on how to heal a scar And I promise, this is the worst it’ll ever look.
