Day 3 of my becoming HER series. I'm on a mission to hit my goals, build my dream life, and find myself in motherhood. And you're coming with me. Do y'all ever just sit and think about the life that you thought that you would have when you were young? It is literally hilarious to me because little teenage Kate, truly thought that she would just be the rich auntie. I had no desire to have children. But as I unpack that, I think that it stemmed from a place of insecurity. Growing up in Idaho, I was one of three black kids in my graduating class. And I was definitely a chubby little girl. And I never received any romantic validation. And as I got older, I had just gone so long without that validation, I think that I just gave up. But really, everything changed when I met my husband. He was the first man who actually saw me, saw all of me, and he loved every damn part. And something I had never allowed myself to want was something suddenly I wanted more than anything. A family and a long happy life with my husband. We have truly built just that. So I am never going to discount myself from something again. If something is coming my way, I'm taking that W. I'm fighting for it. Because there's so many people who want to discount you from the jump. You should never be one of them. Always be your own biggest fan. I'm never going to take myself away from blessings again. If something is coming my way, I'm taking that W.
