During the catch, your job is not to generate propulsion. 💡 Your job is to grab as much water as possible. And to do that, you need your hand and forearm working together as one paddle. 👇 But here's the thing most swimmers miss. 👉 Your elbow can only open and close. That's it. If it's pointing in the wrong direction before the catch starts, there is literally nothing you can do to save it. It doesn't matter how hard you try or how good your hand position is. So here's the fix. 🔑 Right before you initiate the catch, rotate your shoulder to elbow area inward so your elbow points up as much as possible. That one rotation is what allows your hand and forearm to move into the right position and grab the water properly. ❌ Without it, you're catching with your shoulder area at best and losing most of the water before the pull even starts. ⚡️ Get the elbow pointing up first. Then let the catch happen naturally from there. 🎯 If you want me to personally review your catch and tell you exactly what's right, what's wrong, and what your next steps are, upload your swim video inside the Swim Success app. You'll get a deep personal review of your technique with specific feedback you can apply straight away.
