Why it worked

The video provides a clear, concise explanation of a common swimming problem and its solution, using visual aids to demonstrate the correct technique. The direct address to the viewer and the promise of a full breakdown in the caption encourage engagement.

Summary

This video demonstrates proper swimming technique, focusing on the glide phase. It highlights that poor gliding is often due to insufficient speed, which stems from issues with the preceding arm stroke, rather than the glide itself.

Structure

1Introduce the problem: swimmers can't glide properly.
2Explain the root cause: lack of speed from the previous stroke.
3Show the correct technique: efficient pull leads to more speed.
4Explain the benefit: more speed allows for a longer, better glide.
5Direct viewers to the caption for a full breakdown.

On-screen text

Most swimmers CAN'T GLIDE properly. And it's rarely about the glide itself. They try to fix the glide. They should be fixing what comes before it. Full breakdown in the caption.

Original caption

In most cases, the reason you can't glide well is because you don't have enough speed. 🔴 When the speed isn't there, you start sinking. And when you're sinking, no matter what you do with your arm, you have to take another stroke just to stay afloat. 👉 So the first fix is always your catch and pull with the other arm. 🔵 The more efficient your pull, the more speed you carry into the glide. 🔵 The more speed you have, the longer you can stay high on the surface without fighting it. Now let's say your speed is already good. Here's how to keep your arm in the right position during the glide. 1️⃣ When you're not breathing, keep your shoulder close to your chin. ✅ Your whole arm stays relaxed in front of you. Shoulder actively holds it in position. That's what keeps you streamlined and cutting through the water cleanly. 2️⃣ When you breathe, keep your shoulder close to your ear. ✅ Same idea, different position. This stops your arm from dropping too early and ruining the glide at the worst possible moment. ⚠️ Don't drop the arm before you're ready for the next stroke. ❌ Dropping it too early kills your streamline and cuts your recovery short. 🔑 The glide is where your arm recovers. Protect it. 🎯 Want me to personally review your technique? Upload your swim video inside the Swim Success app and I'll tell you exactly what to fix. Link in bio.
