When you push harder in the water, two things happen. You start making unnecessary movements. And your body starts to sink. 👉 Both of those things slow you down. Not speed you up. 🔴 Because swimming has two jobs. Creating propulsion. And reducing resistance. And if your technique is off, extra effort goes straight into resistance, not speed. 👉 Three things to fix first. 1️⃣ Your catch and pull. Almost all of your power should go here. Start your catch slightly wider than shoulder width and pull the water straight back. ✅ The moment you do it right, you'll feel how much harder it is. That's your lats engaging. That's real propulsion. 2️⃣ Your balance. 🔵 Head too high, legs sink. Gliding arm too low, extra drag. Gliding arm too high, legs drop again. ✅ Look slightly ahead, not straight down. Keep your gliding arm at shoulder level. Not pointing up, not pointing down. 3️⃣ Your hip rotation. 🔴 Your hips rotating too much is one of the most common reasons swimmers sink in the back half of their stroke. ✅ Let your shoulders rotate freely. But keep your hips rotating just a little less. That small adjustment keeps your lower body high and reduces drag immediately. 👉 Fix these three and you'll feel faster without trying any harder. 🎯 Inside the Swim Success Training app, pick "improve technique" and you'll get precise drills to work on all three.
