Your arms are not small because you are not working hard enough. They are small because you are curling last, when your biceps are already fried from every pull you did this week. Exercise order is the most underrated variable in hypertrophy. The lift you do first gets the most force, the most focus, and the most growth stimulus. If you save the heavy compound for the end, you are training it at 70 percent capacity every session. Here is the arm day sequence that actually builds size: 1. Close-grip bench, 4 sets of 6. Triceps make up roughly two thirds of your upper arm, so they get the barbell while you are still fresh. Heavy pressing is where triceps thickness comes from, not rope pushdowns. 2. Barbell curl, 3 sets of 8. Bicep growth stalls because most guys curl at the end of the session when the nervous system is cooked. Move it to second and load it heavy while you can still pull real weight. 3. Pushdowns and hammer curls, 2 sets of 12 to 15. Isolation and pump work goes last, after the growth-driving compounds are done. This is where you finish the fibers, not where you start the session. Same order, every arm day.
