breaking down my $4,904 gross paycheck as an air traffic controller. this pay is bi-weekly by the way. is it higher or lower than what you thought it would be? so first off I worked 80 hours that was $3,744. I had one hour overtime so that was $30. 30 was just a half so $46 which is the hourly pay. holiday work we get paid extra for working holidays that was $374. I had 11 hours on night differential so like when I work late at nights that was extra $52. controller in charge so I was in charge for 18 hours or the last two weeks and that was $87. and some we call controller incentive pay which is what I get paid for working at a hard to staff facility that was $161. OJT initiative is when I train people so I train people for 18 hours which totaled up to $218. and last but not least I work 16 hours on Sundays to get paid extra on Sundays and that totaled up to $187. now let's see how much it took out of that. alright starting with the heavy hitter first federal taxes there were $728 gone instantly. and for healthcare it's myself plus one and that was $186. so for my FSA it's $46 every paycheck. my pension is 4.9% automatically going off the top and that was $183 and that's not an option that's just automatic 4.9% gone but I guess I see it in the end. so sure. for my life insurance that's $5 and I have extra life insurance that was another 16 bucks. Medicare tax that was $67. alright state tax that was $243 I paid to Connecticut dental vision that was $43 bucks. and for my TSP which I put around 7% which is like a retirement account so retirement rough account that was $262. and for Social Security that was $286. and last but not least for union dues that was $52. total deductions were $2,126 and leave my net pay for $2,778. my pay varies a lot depending on overtime and holidays like my last check was 37 hundred cause I worked a lot of overtime and it was a holiday into that or two. so sometimes my checks as low as two thousand dollars or it might be up to like I said thirty seven hundred.
