Triathlete still above 2:00/100m in open water? It's not your endurance holding you back. And the way you're training right now might actually be making it worse. 👉 You probably have solid endurance. And your technique is decent. But there are still one or two mistakes in your stroke that are costing you free speed. Not small stuff like head position or your recovery phase. The real ones. ❌ Legs not connecting to your arms ❌ Kicking too much and burning out early ❌ Something off in your catch 🔴 But even more than technique, the main lever is how you train. Most triathletes think more volume equals more speed. More laps, more distance. I get it. It's triathlon. Endurance is everything. 🔴 But if you keep doing only long slow sets, your muscles adapt to going slow. Your fast twitch fibers reduce. And not only will you stay stuck at 2:00, you'll most likely get slower over time. 👉 What you actually need is at least one session per week focused purely on speed. Not 50s or 100s at a decent effort. Short, explosive sprints. ✅ 15 meters. 25 meters. Max effort. Aggressive. With plenty of rest in between. Because to get faster, you have to hit your speed ceiling. If you're too tired to go fast, it's not speed training anymore. It's just more endurance work. 🎯 The goal is to bring your fastest 100m in the pool down to around 1:20. That translates to roughly 1:50 in open water. And that's when you start breaking through that 2:00 wall. 📲 Inside the Swim Success Training app, pick "get faster" as your goal and add your race day. The app builds a plan that keeps your endurance where it needs to be, while making speed the main priority. Download the app and get your first 7 days completely free.
