I really wanted to love Spider-Man Brand New Day but I only came away just really liking the film. Let's talk about it. Last night I saw an early screening of Spider-Man Brand New Day. Right now I'm recording this just three hours removed. I have a lot of thoughts that I want to get off the top of my head. So consider this non-spoiler thoughts. The intro twisted. I don't get the intro twisted. I thought this movie was really really good. The first positive I'm gonna say right now is that I really do respect and appreciate this movie being a street level Spider-Man film. It truly does feel MCU adjacent. Like yes, we understand Avengers Doomsday is the follow up is surrounding other pre-existing within this universe. But here and now in the place in the heart of New York and that stays. We have the inclusion of the Punisher, the MCU but they don't take over the film that a lot that Iron Man did in Spider-Man Homecoming. It's all contained. I can't say any other Tom Holland film has done so far where this movie has a leg over the other positives there. My biggest criticism with this movie feels like there's three films taking place at one time. Spider-Man dealing the loss of Aunt May at the same time trying to cope with the loss of his friends, his girlfriend MJ who he is. Good part of the movie is him spending time with them but trying to protect them in. Then there's Peter Parker's genes mutating and him turning into an arachnid. We saw a in the trailer and that is a big centerpiece of this movie. Yet it does very half baked. Get into that review because this actually pissed me off. And the third revolving around the true villain of this movie because the trailer shows you Tombstone and Scorpion. There's one true villain in this. I won't spoil who it is. Your good guess I think it is and it's probably this villain takes up the third movie more than Spider-Man does, which I were going for, but in a way it's just like ah. I understand what for a little putting on a thick for us. I'm three hours lot I'm chewing still a lot and I will be rewatching it again on Wednesday. But for now, right here right now, I will give Spider-Man Brand New Day three and a half out of five stars. That's my starting rate for this movie. It can go up or down on a rewatch. And follow to rank all 11 Spider-Man films tomorrow.
