If you get sued for credit card debt, the debt collector is hoping you never file this one document, because right now, they're planning a party that doesn't even include you. I'm Kristy, and for over 10 years, I've helped people with debt issues. When that summons shows up, most people react in two ways. They either pretend it doesn't exist, or stare at it like ancient hieroglyphics. Don't make it easy for them to win. Meanwhile, the debt collector is thinking, this one's gonna be easy. But here's how you ruin their day. Answer. It starts with a general denial, which tells the court, nope, you're gonna have to prove every allegation. Then come the affirmative defenses. Those can challenge whether they actually own the debt, have the legal right to sue, whether their evidence is accurate, and even preserve your right to arbitration if, if the credit one. Just a few. A strong answer can include up to 16 different affirmative defenses, depending on your case. While the debt collector was an easy win, you just handed them a loss. If you need an answer template, I've got them linked in my bio. Follow for more debt lawsuit strategies.
