Straight talk, Denton: your utility bill is going up next year. 💡 The city's proposed budget raises rates across the board: water up 3%, wastewater up 9%, drainage up 5%, and electric up 3%. Solid waste stays flat. For the average home, that's roughly $8.30 more a month, going from about $267.82 to $276.12. Here's the part that matters. Denton Municipal Electric came in more than $200 million under its revenue projection this year, and a big driver is that expected income from data centers didn't materialize. Growth and future data center demand are also pushing the numbers. City leaders say a small yearly increase beats another big one time shock like 2024. The council votes on this in September, so now's the time to pay attention. Article via Denton Record Chronicle Hot tips around Denton County or the rest of DFW?
