By now if you don't have a healthy slick back bun routine in your hair cycle, you are doing it right. For me, when wash day is coming, I will usually do a slick back at least once a week. Instead of just destroying my hair by using a bunch of gel and hairspray, I'm going to prep it with all the good stuff. Scalp serum, hair oil, and then apply gel on top of it. Because your hair is coated with that oil, that gel is going to lay on top of it. So my best tip for a great slick back bun, one that's genuinely going to stay on for the entire day, is to tie your hair into pigtails first. This way your hair part stays clean and you can really achieve an illusion of an even bigger bun. You twist the pigtails and tie it, and if you have long hair like me, you do it twice. Then add a final hair tie around the bun and you're good to go. I do have baby hairs, growing hairs, so I like to add some edges and that's it. This hair is going to stay just like this for 12+ hours. You can even apply hairspray on top to really set it, but yeah, this is my version of a healthier slick back routine.
