Your legs have the biggest muscles in your body. Your quads, glutes, and hamstrings. 🔴 If you use them excessively, you will get tired. No matter how fit you are. 👉 That's exactly why the best long distance swimmers barely kick at all. Instead of kicking nonstop, they let their legs glide behind their body most of the time and do just one kick per arm stroke. That's the two beat kick. One kick per arm. Two kicks per full stroke cycle. 👉 But here's where most swimmers get it wrong. 1️⃣ The cross connection. ✅ Right arm plus right leg. Left arm plus left leg. 🔴 Not the opposite. The same side has to work together. 🔵 This cross connection allows you to glide from side to side and leverage your rotation. Your stroke becomes easier and stronger at the same time. 2️⃣ The timing of the kick. 👉 This is the most important part. ✅ The downward motion of your kick has to happen at the exact moment your hand passes your head under the water. Right at the end of your catch. 🔵 When you time it correctly, your kick and your catch create double propulsion at the same time. Then you glide and save energy for the rest of the stroke. 👉 Get the cross connection right. Get the timing right. And you will swim faster while using a fraction of the energy you use now. 🎯 If you want to see exactly how your kick looks and whether your timing is off, film yourself on your phone and send it inside the Swim Success Training app. I'll personally review your stroke and tell you exactly what to fix first.
