I used to work for a pretty famous makeup artist, um, back in like the YouTube makeup guru, um, peak of it all. And these are some diabolical things that she started having me do to ultimately make me quit. So just give you a preface, we did start out by me showing up to set and helping her on makeup sets, um, makeup related assistant type stuff. When I was starting to not only get really confident in my work, but I would show up and like the bigger name people started knowing me and not only knowing me, but they started liking me. When it clicked in my head like, I'm starting to really fit in and shine in this environment, that's when she kind of had a flip and I never saw a set again. So instead of me meeting up with her on sets and doing cool makeup stuff, it turned into these crazy made tasks. The first one being, she had fine glitter explode in a suitcase and she wanted me to clean it out. So I don't know if you've ever tried to clean fine glitter out of anything, but it is impossible to get it all out. And there's Velcro galore in this suitcase and I spent three hours on this project and got almost all of it out. But then I got reprimanded later because I didn't get every piece of fine glitter out. So I got yelled at. And then another time she asked me to vacuum, like, can you just go to my apartment, I'm having somebody over and I don't have time to clean. Sure, no problem. I go over, which by the way, it was no problem, but these like made tasks, they were not my job. Mind you, before that, I was going to Jeffree Star Studios and sitting there on set helping and then I showed up to the apartment and all she has is one of those like dust devil little handheld things. So I'm on my hands and knees vacuuming her floor with the handheld dust devil thing. Insane for her to, she left it out for me too. That's insane work. And then I came over, built a bunch of furniture for her, and then I left my Starbucks like I threw it in the trash. She takes a picture of my drink in the trash and says that I should have taken the initiative to take out her trash. Not my job. Also, it was like three fourths full. So it's like, huh? And when I didn't clean all of her personal makeup brushes, she also sent me photos of all the brushes lying around her apartment that I could have cleaned. Even though my specific instruction was to clean the ones in the tub. She was also just like, kind of a bully. Like we have something to do out of town and she invited me and said that if I want to go, I can pay my own way. I paid for my flight, I paid for my hotel, um, I made sure to arrive the same day that she arrived, but later in the day. And when I got there, I texted her, what are you doing? I texted her when I landed, asked her what she was doing. She ignored me. Then the next day I look online and everyone that I work with, like everyone that was there for work, right? For what we were there to do, they all went out to dinner and partied and had fun. And I was left out. And she just ignored my text. And then the next day she's like, oh, sorry, we were having so much fun, I just didn't see these. And I think the worst thing of all, I mean, she did a lot of like bully things to me, but I think the worst one of all was that she worked for Morphe technically, and so I worked for her, she paid me. Um, and then they had a big holiday party. Everyone in the office had been talking about it. Everyone's asking me if I'm going. And I'm like, yeah, I want to go, I just didn't get the emails for those things. She got them, and it's her responsibility to show me the invites for those things. And I was like, oh, okay. I'm pretty sure I'm invited separately though. And I was too young to speak up for myself. And I ended up not going. And I felt absolutely crushed about it. And then the next day, guess who was at the holiday party? She was there with all our little group of friends that we would like work with. And they posted photos from the photobooth and with all my favorite influencers and how awesome and great the party was. And it was at that point that I knew I was going to quit because I realized I was getting bullied and turned into like a maid. And I didn't like it. And I'm not gonna say who this was. If you guess, you guess. It's not the point of this video. Um, but depending on who this does reach, if you have a personal assistant or if you're in a field where you're hiring somebody who's also trying to get a foot in the door in this field, and you are already established, it is so much easier and so much better karma for you to help that person and give your wisdom on and like just be kind. Let's not bully each other. There's so much room for everyone to win. There's so much room for everyone to win. And I guess that's just my message. If I ever have, which I will, a personal assistant in the future, that's going to be a very lucky person. I'm going to treat her very well because of this experience.
