How to master Copilot
A progressive guide from Beginner to Expert
01 Personalise Your Experience
Tell Copilot who you are before you ask anything. Under Personalisation, add a brief description of your role, set your preferred language and response style, and enable memory so Copilot remembers what matters across conversations.
10 Create a Scheduled Task
Define a task once, set a schedule, and Cowork handles it automatically while you do other work. Weekly client briefings, monthly reports, daily news scans. No reminder, no manual setup, no intervention.
09 Create Your First Skill
Package your recurring workflows so Cowork runs them the same way every time. Same pattern as Claude Skills: describe inputs, steps, and outputs, and Cowork follows your recipe.
08 Enrol in Frontier and Install Cowork
Unlock the agentic layer of Copilot, powered by Claude. Ask your admin to enable Frontier, then install Cowork from the Agent Store. Cowork plans and executes multi-step work across tools with visible progress.
07 Use Create with Brand Kit
Generate on-brand designs without leaving Copilot. Upload your logo, fonts, and colours once into your Brand Kit, then ask Create for presentations, posters, and social posts that automatically match your visual identity.
06 Create Your First Notebook
A persistent workspace that grounds Copilot in one project. Add files, OneNote pages, and entire SharePoint sites as references. Every answer stays inside that bounded context. Best for projects that span weeks, not minutes.
05 Create Your First Agent
Build a no-code agent for a recurring job. In Copilot Studio or directly in the Copilot app, point it at a SharePoint folder, write its instructions, and publish. Start narrow: HR policy Q&A, product lookup, onboarding helper.
04 Use Built-in Copilot Agents
Copilot has 4 specialist agents pre-pinned in the app. Researcher tackles multi-step research grounded in your tenant and the web. Analyst runs Python on your data. Facilitator takes notes and moderates Teams meetings. Interpreter translates speech live.
03 Save Reusable Prompts
Stop retyping the same prompts. Save them once in the Prompt Lab and reuse them with one click. Browse Microsoft's library of role-specific templates and pin the ones that fit your daily work.
02 Practice CRAFT Prompting
Use the CRAFT framework: a structure that consistently produces better output. Be specific before you start typing by defining the Context, Role, Action, Format, and Tone.
