DAY 1 POSTPARTUM IN MATERNITY WARD

I can't believe I just gave birth last night. I also didn't sleep a wink after even though I should have been so tired. But I was just so high on life and I was just staring at my baby all night. I had a little bit of breakfast and then Harry did some skin to skin. And then we moved into the room that we're going to be staying in for the next four nights. We toured this maternity ward and when we saw this deluxe suite with the ocean view, we were like, if it's available, we're definitely asking for it. So we're so excited that we got it. This really feels less like a hospital, more like a hotel for postpartum mamas and babies. There are obviously a team of midwives here and they are honestly available 24/7 to help you with anything that you or your baby need. They also have an incredible food program. You actually get to order exactly what you want for every single meal and just having the food taken care of for those first five days is such a help to get you on your feet and help you just really launch your baby into the world in a really beautiful way. The twins are actually coming to meet their little brother very soon and I didn't plan on having a five-year age gap between the kids, but the more that I'm seeing their reaction, I'm just so grateful for this five-year age gap. I think it's going to be so, so, so much fun. And I've just been so overwhelmed by emotion obviously. I have truly prayed for this and it's just been a lot. I just gave birth and I'm just, I don't know, I'm just so grateful. Harry's mom has taken on the twins for the five days that we are in hospital, which is such a lifesaver. And as much as I miss my big boys, it has been really important to just kind of bond with the new baby in a really low-stress environment. And mostly just having the space to get the hang of the breastfeeding thing again. Also because my twins were in NICU, they never actually cluster fed to bring my milk in, so I totally underestimated how much time this kid would be on the boob bringing the milk in. And it's just been a beautiful day with a little date night that Harry kind of put together with help from the hospital staff and it was just the most perfect first 24 hours.
