spent a realistic overnight vlog exclusively breastfeeding my 5 day old baby. We are still in that phase where he's trying to establish my milk supply so it's a little bit rough but it will get easier from here. The past couple days he's been cluster feeding between like 6 o'clock and 9 p.m. literally on and off the boob for three hours straight. So I asked Harry to hold him for a little bit so I could get ready for bed and we attempted to put him down in the cot because I was so exhausted and needed some space. And maybe 10 minutes went by and he wanted to be back on me. So I gave him a very quick little feed just to make him happy. And then Harry took him out in the living room to give mum some sleep. So we could get some separation. And I was able to get one and a half hours of actual sleep, which was nice. I heard him stirring so I went out to the living room to switch Harry out and I just decided to stay out here and finish the feed. My back starts to hurt if I'm feeding and I haven't mastered the sideways just yet. My milk came in two days ago, breasts are engorged and painful still but it's getting better. So I'm just trying to get through this. It's a lot, but it's going to be so worth it. I finished the feed in the bedroom and just let him sleep on my chest for a little while. I just needed to lay flat and I wasn't going to risk trying to transfer him this time. The second waking feed was quick, only 15 minutes. After the 2 a.m. feed, I did attempt the transfer and hallelujah, it worked. He was in there for about two and a half hours. The third waking feed. He slept for 2 hours in his bassinet! Longest stretch yet. I'm actually really happy right now. And I was able to sleep otherwise. I'm at the point now where I'm seriously considering just co-sleeping because I don't know how many I'm gonna get any sleep otherwise. He didn't transfer so I let him sleep on me, I dozed but didn't get any quality sleep. He fed for 40 minutes. It's a huge investment up front that pays off ten times down the line. I just need to get through these first six weeks, get my milk supply established and regulated and it's going to be so worth it. Breastfeeding is extremely challenging. I've already thought 10 times that I'm not going to be able to do this, but I just keep reminding myself that it's a huge investment up front that pays off ten times down the line. I just need to get through these first six weeks, get my milk supply established and regulated. And it's going to be so worth it.
