If you have 25,000 Amex points, you have enough points for a round trip economy flight to Europe. Amex is running a 30% transfer bonus to Iberia, British Airways, and Aer Lingus through September 27. All three use the same currency — Avios — and every 10,000 Amex points you transfer becomes 13,000 Avios. Here's what the math looks like. Iberia prices JFK → Madrid in economy from 16,000 Avios each way. That's 32,000 Avios round trip, which at the standard 1:1 rate would cost you 32,000 Amex points. With the bonus, 25,000 Amex points becomes 32,500 Avios. Same flight, 7,000 fewer points. Taxes and fees are separate, but they're reasonable — usually around $100 each way. So that's a round trip across the Atlantic for 25,000 points and about $200 out of pocket. Bonuses like this don't come around often. Amex went roughly a year without running one to Avios. The bonus ends September 27. Transfers are non-reversible, so find your award space first and move only what you need. Drop any questions in the comments and I'll answer them.
