THE PERFECT PERM ROD SET

People always ask me what's my favorite service to do and I don't think I have a particular favorite but perm rods are definitely top three for me. I've been doing perm rods on my own hair since I was about 12 or 13 years old. So while perm rods have always been one of my favorite hairstyles as a hairstylist I have grown a different appreciation for them. It's definitely a cute hairstyle for anyone to have but this is one of my biggest recommendations whenever I get clients who have heat damage or are trying to transition from relaxed to natural or if they've had bad experiences with keratin or texturizers that have caused them to have straight pieces throughout their hair. This is the perfect style to mask that damage. The rods work to create a curl pattern in areas where you may not have curls. So it can still appear that you have a head full of healthy hair even if you don't. When I do my rod sets, before I add any other product, I always start with a leave-in conditioner and then I follow up with the mousse of choice. You can use any mousse that you prefer. Today I'm using mousse def by The Do. And those are the only two products that I used during the wrapping process. This is a style that I would highly encourage you to sit under a dryer for it instead of air drying because that runs the risk of your rods not coming out right. Most of my clients only have to sit under the dryer for an hour is very seldom that they have to sit any longer than that. Now every time I post a rod set video y'all always ask about the white papers and they are called end papers. You can find them at any beauty supply, any Sally's, probably on Amazon. End papers aren't totally necessary. A lot of people don't use them and I actually don't use them when I do my own perm rods, but I use them in a salon because I like to guarantee the results and this helps with that. After I finish, I like to take a moisturizer of choice, sometimes it's a lightweight serum, sometimes I use grease. It all depends on the client and the state of their hair and what I feel like their hair needs at the moment. And then once I do that, I follow up with a hairspray. And there it is, the perfect perm rod set. And I wish we were able to touch up her color before but this still looks great. Let me know what y'all think.
