I'm the daughter, the top wedding planners in New York City, my unhinged wedding opinions. I will not be contained, I will not be stopped, not taking notes. And when I say top wedding planner, my mom planned the very first wedding in the New York Public Library. Done international weddings, celebrity weddings. Her weddings have been in major publications. First opinion. Spend your money on the food. Don't skip on it. No one is gonna remember the thickness of the card stock of your escort card, but they will remember that horrible, unseasoned chicken. Feed your guests. No. 2, and I can't believe but have a rain plan. Stop spending your money on Etsy witches to get a good weather day. I have never seen the power of manifestation beat a noreaster. Number three. And this one's gonna upset people. Your amazing, wonderful hair stylist that cuts your hair nine times out of 10 is not to be the best wedding hair stylist for you. Styling your hair for life is different than being a wedding hair stylist. Two very different skill sets. It's like hiring a baby photographer to do sports photography. A lot of the time, not of the time, they take longer than they said they would, and the style falls halfway through. Cocktails. Get a wedding hair stylist. No. 4. Get a videographer. It's like the number one thing people regret. If you can't afford a videographer, somebody film, like, on a smartphone, the ceremony, the toast and the first dance. No. 5. No programs or favors. Easy budget cut. If you have the money, go have fun. If a favor, make it food. I don't remember. Stop picking vendors based off of their portfolio. Resume in their interview. Their follower account does not equate to how good they actually are. Honestly, the best vendors that, like, we know don't media presence. Why? And busy and don't have time to do social media. Number twenty two and a/2. Stop making your wedding parties pay an arm and a leg. Drop thousands of dollars for the trip to Nashville, then another thousand the suit, the alterations. So they have to pay for airfare, hotel, and take days off of work. Another 500 for are you serious? And you expect a gift? No. These are not your indentured servants getting married. Getting married, you're not a deity that they're making offerings to. No. 500. If you care about aesthetics, you need a people skimp on lighting all the time. A big mistake again. Again, if you care about aesthetics, budget down and get some gobos and pin spotting. No one's gonna had to import out of season tulips. By local season flowers and then get lighting. That's what makes your wedding go from pretty to wow. No. 3,000 child free weddings are perfectly fine. Weddings with children are perfectly fine. It's a preference, about it. And lastly, when bustle installed, ties are cotton, not satin, and they're colour coordinated or numbered. Cotton has friction. It will actually hold. And have accessible bathrooms. What do you have bathrooms during cocktail hour? Doing?
