🍦 Yes, you can eat ice cream with diabetes! But if you’re looking for frozen treats that may be a little easier on blood sugars, there are a few things I like to look for: 🍨 Protein: 5g+ per serving when possible
🍨 Fiber: 2g+ per serving
🍨 Lower added sugar: I typically look for <5g added sugar when choosing a lower-sugar option
🍨 Pre-portioned servings: Bars, cups, popsicles, and mini sandwiches can make carb counting and portioning SO much easier. Some of my favorites you’ll see in this video include @Yasso Greek yogurt bars, @GoodPop popsicles, @TruFru frozen fruit, and mini/single-serve ice cream options. And remember: You do NOT have to buy a special “diabetes-friendly” ice cream. Regular ice cream can absolutely fit too! One strategy I love is enjoying it after a meal with protein and fiber, rather than by itself on an empty stomach. 🍦 Which frozen treat is your favorite? And what should I add to my list? Save this for your next trip down the freezer aisle! #diabetes #bloodsugar #icecream #lowsugar #frozentreat
