During my senior year of high school we had a college preparation pep talk from our school counselor and the one piece of advice that stuck with me was to not rant to people in college. Especially about other people in college. If you go to college and you still have friends from high school, feel free to rant to them about any problems that you have with someone in college. I did the same thing with my mom, with my best friend from high school, but whatever you do, do not share problems that you have with someone in college with another person that goes to your college. I tried to follow this as long as I could and then I ended up failing and I really regret it. When I was having roommate issues, I started ranting to a couple people in my hallway and soon those rants got back to my roommate. Everyone in college is connected somehow, especially if you go to a smaller school. So any negative thing you say about someone will probably get back to them. One thing that my high school counselor said that really stuck with me is that you want to be the person who has never said anything bad about someone else. So if you have a problem with someone in college, save it for someone else, not someone who goes to your college. It's hard to do, I definitely didn't do it and that really came back to bite me. So don't do what I did. Take it from my high school counselor.
