Equinox is the only gym where working out too hard feels socially unacceptable. So let me get this straight. You pay three hundred bucks a month to exercise next to people who are desperately trying to look like they're not working out. God forbid you make a noise. Everyone's gonna be staring. And the comedy here is I'm pretty sure Equinox would like to think they've designed this gym for people of my economic stature, but I would rather do pushups under a bridge. In fact, I have done pushups under a bridge, and it was pretty awesome. I don't need a cucumber towel. I don't need leather club chairs in the lobby. I just need rusty iron plates and a ripped t-shirt. Equinox is so painful because nothing destroys a workout faster than wondering if you still look cool while you're doing it.
