QUEENSLAND'S FIRST UNDERGROUND WINE CAVE

[ NEW ] QUEENSLAND’S FIRST EVER WINE CAVE NOW OPEN IN THE GRANITE BELT TAKING SIX YEARS TO BUILD Meteora Vineyard is now open in Ballandean, already being called one of the most ambitious wineries the Granite Belt has ever seen. Founders Andrew and Karen Catsoulis spent 6 years turning a neglected farm into a full estate winery, restaurant & cellar door, with an underground wine cave blasted straight into the granite. It’s estate grown wine, Mediterranean dining & serious architecture, all in Queensland’s only cool climate wine region. THE WINE CAVE 🔑 The engineering: controlled blasts pushed more than 25 metres into the hillside, shifting over 800 cubic metres of solid granite. 🍷 Naturally climate controlled barrel storage with room for more than 250 barrels ageing deep underground. 🌍 Modelled on cellars carved into the cliffs beneath New Zealand’s Gibbston Valley, so it feels like stepping into a European wine cave. THE FOOD & WINE 🍽️ The five course dinner tasting menu is $130 per person, with wine pairings available, led by executive chef Simon Treller. 🥩 The a la carte lunch menu leans Mediterranean, Bald Rock beef carpaccio, garlic prawns, saganaki with local honey & slow braised traditional stifado. 🍕 Offering a relaxed dining experience featuring woodfired pizzas & grazing platters on the Alfresco Terrace. 🍷 The estate grown wines cover regional classics like shiraz and chardonnay, with Mediterranean varietals like fiano, vermentino, montepulciano & aglianico launching soon. 🚁 For the full experience, you can arrive by helicopter on a 45 minute scenic flight from Brisbane.
