why are fujifilms so beginner friendly? Fujifilms are famous for being beginner friendly. This dial right here is one of the big reasons why. Dialed in: Ep. 4 the exposure dial Welcome to Episode 4 of Dialed in, where I'm breaking down some Fujifilm concepts. Today we're talking about the exposure dial. One flick and you can change exposure, which is basically how bright or how dim your photo is. Without toggling through any of the menus, you find the exposure dial right here. tip: the exposure dial is at the top next to the shutter, look for the +/- numbers you find the exposure dial right here on the top of your Fuji camera right next to the shutter. Your camera has a light meter that kinda guesses the correct exposure of how a photo should be. This dial here allows you to fix that. tip: dial up (+) if you want to brighten, and down (-) to darken image Dialing it up can brighten your photo and dialing it down can darken your photo. The light meter inside your camera kind of averages all of the light to be an average gray. This becomes a problem if you're shooting in really bright scenes like in the snow or against a white background, and it'll under expose your photo and then your whites will look kind of a dullish grey on the opposite side. When you're shooting in the night time or against more dark settings, you can actually overexpose the and make your dark colours look more washed out. Using the exposure dial to correct the colour of my photos really helps my photos to give it that look that I'm trying to give. Something that I like to do is actually shoot the photo, play it back, adjust exposure, & reshoot. by playing it back if it looks too adjust the exposure and then shoot another photo with those adjustments. tip: take a photo, play it back, adjust exposure, & reshoot. One quick note is that touching your exposure dial doesn't really change the recipe. Your film simulation, tone, curves, grain, those things all stay the same. But exposing it is what makes the film recipe act in the way that it's supposed by not under exposing or over exposing based off your camera's light meter. would love to see how you've played with exposure in your photos! put them in the comments! and I'll show you a trick that makes checking your exposure even easier.
