This routine takes 30-40 minutes for my busy brained FOMO baby son and is the perfect balance to help him find his calm at bedtime. He will still protest these steps and still protests sleep but he knows exactly what’s going to happen and reliably is asleep within 20 minutes or less. You’ll notice a couple things I do to help his little brain wind down: - Saying night night to his teddies and dog is important to him and he sometimes gets a bit emotional saying night to his dog. Bedtime is a very long goodbye for our littles so these little traditions help him feel safer in the goodbye. - Music while he is falling asleep is essential. If he doesn’t have it then it will take him twice as long to fall asleep. - Chats at bedtime guarantees him that he’ll have our undivided attention at this time everyday. So he often tells us things he would never tell us during the day. If he has nothing to say then we chat about what we’re going to do tomorrow. You can see this routine is more detailed and takes 10mins more than my youngest sons but both routines suit them perfectly and grandparents can pick it up too.
