How does your bathtub or shower look like this? This or this? In case your dad didn't teach you, I'm gonna show you how to waterproof and re-caulk your bathtub. Especially if you have mold. Step number one, if you have caulk or silicone already there and it's molding, you have to cut it out. You can use razor blades, a knife, whatever you want. Slice under it and pull. It's super simple. Once the old caulking or silicone's removed, you need to clean the mold out. Use vinegar, use bleach, whatever you want, get it out. You need 100% silicone. There is a difference and it needs to be waterproof. On your caulking gun, there's a little hole, this cuts the tip. Little angle and slice. Also on your caulking gun, this little piece of metal, stab it into the tube, it breaks the film to release the caulking. Pull the trigger and pull back on the caulking gun to release the caulking. Once you have an ugly bead, let's make it pretty. Couple options. You can use a wet rag and a sponge and pull, or I like to use my fingers. I just did my nails, so I'm using a glove. Little pro tip to make the bead look nice, wet your finger in some soapy water, then glide. Apply light pressure and just glide your finger. Look how nice that looks. Here's an example using a wet cloth. Same process, start at the bottom and slightly pull. It really is that simple. Do it around every single crack and hole you see in your tub and shower.
