I was home alone with my 3 week old baby and 5 year old son today when his run of the mill fever turned into something very scary… He had a seizure. Apparently this can be common in children under the age of 6 but I had no idea what was happening and I genuinely thought I was losing him. I called the ambulance and they walked me through what to do. The seizure lasted for 5 minutes. 5 of the longest minutes of my life. Thank god my son is okay now. He is healthy and safe and it wasn’t life threatening. but It was traumatic for all of us… My postpartum anxiety has been tipped over because of this and I’m just praying my newborn does not get whatever has caused it. If you haven’t heard of a febrile seizure please familiarize yourself with it. It can happen to any child. And I wish I would have known so I could have done better. 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
