Hey y'all, good morning and happy Sunday. Let's get dinner put in the crock pot. Tonight I'm cooking my Great Granny's recipe, pepper steak and rice. And I'm gonna show you all the ingredients that you're gonna need. Four packets of brown gravy, a bottle of soy sauce, I do less sodium. Around 2 pounds of stew meat or chopped up steak. I did the Angus premium stew meat. 8 to 10 bell peppers depending on their size and a large onion. The first thing we got to do is wash and cut up all the peppers. That is the worst part about making this meal. This recipe my Great Granny would always cook when we were growing up and anytime she cooked it, I feel like everyone in the family would come and get a bowl because it is so good. And it's super easy to prepare. If you're not a fan of the stew meat, you can get like a sirloin steak, chopped up. And typically that is what I do. I have done the Angus lean stew meat from Walmart and it's actually really good. We will eat this meal for probably two nights. That's why I always do 2 pounds or more of this stew meat so it has plenty of protein. But I will say the onions, the peppers, the gravy, all of it over rice. That's my absolute favorite part. That's like the main part of the meal. I turned this into a crock pot meal. My Granny used to cook it in one big huge huge pot and she would just start it early early in the morning and let it simmer all day long. I will not eat this meal, but Luke and Brody love it. I don't give them the peppers and the onions, but they love the steak with the gravy and over rice. They love it. I cut up eight of the ten bell peppers because I felt like that was a lot. So, now I'm gonna cut the onion up real quick. It's actually so funny because before I got pregnant with Brayden, I hated onions. Like I used to not put onions in this recipe because I hated onions so much. Now I absolutely love onions. And I cannot believe that I never put onions in this before. So, now I have everything chopped up. Let's go ahead and add it to the pot. So I'm gonna add some of my peppers and onions to the crock pot. Now I'm gonna add in the meat. I'm gonna season it up with the meat like I would season up my steak. So a little bit of garlic salt and some steak seasoning. Now you're gonna pour in your four packets of brown gravy. Now you're gonna add in the rest of the peppers and onions. And then I'm gonna add in some more garlic salt over all of this. Now you're gonna pour in your soy sauce. It is totally up to you how much you use. I use about three quarters of this bottle because we like the taste of the soy sauce. My Granny used to use about half a bottle, so it's kind of up to you. I'm gonna add in about three quarters of the bottle. Now you're just gonna mix it up really well. Now you're just gonna put the lid on. I do want to eat this for dinner, so I'm gonna put it on high for about six hours. If I feel like it needs to keep cooking, I'll put it on high until dinner time. But if I feel like it's pretty much cooked, I'll turn it down to low. Then you'll just boil some rice and serve it over top of the rice. It is so good. But that is our Sunday dinner. Love y'all.
