The reason you're not finding anything cute and affordable on secondhand clothing apps is because you're searching using aesthetic-related keywords. It is totally true that secondhand resale apps are the absolute best, most sustainable, and most affordable alternative to fast fashion, but you won't find success if you search them in the exact same way that you search Shein. If you're looking for vampy Gothic dresses, for example, and you are literally searching the phrase "vampy Gothic dresses." You're shooting yourself in the foot because you're searching for sellers that are aware of the current trends and are therefore probably going to ask you for a bit more money. All of my favourite pieces I have found using more specific keywords. For example, instead of searching for "Gothic dresses" I search for "vintage velvet maxi dresses" or "90s homecoming dresses." Or I search by specific brands that I know tend to have clothing that's more in my style, like "Express black tank top." Then, I'll use the search filters to my advantage, making sure that I can only see garments in my size, in my budget, in the color that I want, and depending on the platform, only in the material that I want. And I'll let you in on a little secret: a great way to find brands that tend to make clothing in your style, if you don't have any in mind yet, is to use those aesthetic keywords. Find something that is super dreamy but totally out of your budget. Pay attention to what brand it is, and then go and search garments by that brand. I know from personal experience, and a lot of the time, especially if you search multiple apps or you use a resale search engine like GEM, you can actually find that exact garment at a more affordable price. Happy hunting!
