Most people think that small breasts are automatically an A or a B cup, and that a DD is a huge cup size. That's actually completely wrong. DD is a small cup size. And if you're well endowed and that sentence made you defensive, you're probably not a DD. Stay with me, because I'm a 30G. Stop looking! Most people are wearing the wrong bra size, and that's because they don't actually understand how bra sizing works. Don't beat yourself up about it. The fact of the matter is, most major stores, like, Victoria's Secret for example, use incorrect sizing systems to try and make sure that you fit a bra size that they sell. That way, you don't realize how limited their size range really is. If you've ever been told to measure your underbust and add 4 inches to the measurement, you have fallen prey to this scheme. It's ridiculous to add four inches to an underbust measurement. You'd probably be swimming in an ill-fitting bra. This is also part of why so many women complain that their bras are uncomfortable. Your bra isn't supposed to have gaps or spillage. The gore, this part here, is supposed to sit flat against the end of your sternum. The band isn't supposed to ride up in the back, either. And cup size is actually not static, so you can't really look at someone and tell without the band to give you further information because it's a measurement of volume. It's measured proportionate to your band size. So a bra size 30F and 38C convey the same volume of breast tissue, but as band size increases, the cup size decreases. So if you think you're a 34DD for example, you might actually be a 30G. And your shape matters just as much as your size. Even within 30G bras, you might have teardrop shaped breasts and struggle with gaping at the top of a full coverage T-shirt bra.
