Your muscles have two types of fibers. 🔵 Slow twitch fibers. Built for endurance. They don't get tired easily but they can't produce speed. 🔵 Fast twitch fibers. Built for speed. Explosive, powerful, and exactly what you need to go faster. 🔴 Every time you do long slow sets, your body develops more slow twitch fibers. And at the same time, your fast twitch fibers reduce. The more volume you do, the more your body becomes efficient at going slow. 👉 That's not an opinion. That's biology. 🔴 And there's a second problem. Your nervous system. Your muscles recover fast after a hard session. Your nervous system takes much longer. If you train hard every session without proper rest, you're not building speed. You're building fatigue. And a fatigued nervous system cannot produce fast swimming no matter how hard you try. 👉 So what's the alternative? 1️⃣ Spend two months focused purely on speed. ✅ Short sprints. 15 meters. 25 meters. Maximum effort. Plenty of rest. Let your fast twitch fibers develop and your speed ceiling rise. 🔵 Less volume. Higher intensity. More rest between reps. 2️⃣ Then build your endurance back on top of that new speed. 👉 This is especially important for triathletes and long distance swimmers. You still need endurance. But the order matters. 🔴 Get fast first. Then build the endurance to hold that new speed for longer. That's when you hit a personal best. Not by swimming more. By training smarter. 🎯 Inside the Swim Success Training app pick "get faster" as your goal and the app builds this exact structure for you automatically. Speed first. Endurance after.
