I saw post recently somewhere that said any social analysis on Gen Z is boring because it can effectively be boiled down to us not being able to afford anything. And I think there's an additional piece to that like to add. Gen Z doesn't go clubbing like the previous generations because it's 8 to 15 dollars per shot. Gen Z doesn't travel like other generations because airline companies, along with just about every other company, is running algorithms to determine what is the highest possible price we pay for said product or service. Oh, but Gen Z is not willing to climb the occupational ladder. Well, that's because either those options because rich people are hiring their wealthy friends and family. The boomers are not giving up their high paying jobs to lead everyone else to bump up, or the entry level jobs that to climb said are being kicked off due to AI. That affordability issue, I would also argue that it has to do with us constantly being gaslit because we were told to follow a to achieve a success. And then after doing so, we watch in all forms of recorded media, the Gen X and boomers take change the laws, and set the system up for them at the expense of literally the world. And then when we turn around and look what's going on, as the actions were told, that's false, despite the video evidence, documentation, and court rulings that say otherwise. So not only can I not go road tripping to visit the national parks, but the man that they voted in is now selling the national parks for big oil to destroy. The affordability issue is arguably the first half, the personal experience, the problem that the individual sees, while the thieving and the gaslighting is the interpersonal experience. The second half, I would argue is just this conversation. So when statistics start getting thrown around that Gen Z is not having kids and they're not going out enough and they're not participating in society, the conversation needs to shift away from just the affordability issue, the broader lack of accountability from the previous generations who kicked the can down the past 40, 50, 60 plus years instead of doing anything that would benefit society long term instead of themselves.
