President Trump is floating another name change, this time suggesting New Mexico could become "New America." The proposal follows his push to rename Lake Ontario "Lake America," as Trump continues putting his stamp on prominent geographic names. Unlike geographic features that can be renamed for federal use through executive action, a president cannot unilaterally rename a U.S. state. Trump and the White House have not announced any formal effort to change New Mexico's name.
