What’s the point of a strong back if your hands give out first? 👊 You know that handshake from someone who’s spent years carrying tools, lumber, or heavy equipment? That’s a reminder that grip strength deserves a place in your training. If you want stronger forearms and strength you can actually use, give farmer’s carries a spot in your workout. The exercise is simple: pick up two heavy dumbbells, hold them firmly, and walk with control. Your forearms work to keep your grip, while your core and shoulders help you stay stable with every step. Here’s how to add them to your routine: ▪️ 3 sets of 45–60 seconds ▪️ Choose a challenging weight you can safely pick up, carry, and set down ▪️ Keep your ribs stacked over your pelvis and take steady, controlled steps ▪️ Finish the set before your grip slips or your posture breaks down For these sets, let your hands do the holding without lifting straps. Adjust the weight so you can keep control throughout. Wrist curls can help build your forearms, too. Carries give you another way to train them while challenging your whole body under load. Bigger forearms. Better grip endurance. More practice moving heavy things. That’s a useful combination whether you train for muscle growth, functional strength, or the sleeper build aesthetic. Save this for your next pull day or full-body workout. What usually gives out first on your carries—your grip or your conditioning? Want to keep building full body strength?
