Initially I had twelve of these in mind but soon I realised that there simply wasn’t enough time to complete a collection. My goal was to display a single plane flying through various clouds, skies and colours to tell a story of how I can’t stop staring out the windows on flights. There’s something so inhibiting about how the vastness of our skies are cramped by the smallness of airplane windows. Much the way my canvases often try deal with large landscapes that are caught in the four corners of my canvases. There’s a sense optimism and opportunity with a sky as beautifully blue as the one in this painting and yet it really is just a small painting made of a restricted colour palette and simple composition. The ‘Skymaster’ plane itself is quite unique and ambitious in its design. ‘Master Of The Skies’ is not for sale but there will be limited edition prints made available online after my upcoming exhibition in Berlin next month.
