older. Well damn that grinder. That rep fried my CNS just by watching it. Props to the guy for powering through that rep like a warrior. Most people don't have a mental fortitude. mental capacity to go through it. With that being said it's probably a mistake. Every serious lifter went through well at one point. And let me tell you as someone who trained at every level of intensity. Pushing all sets to complete failure yeah. DMB move on my end I've been there though. Pushing only a couple of sets to complete failure. Or every last set to complete failure and leaving reps in reserve. Specifically when I'm more focused on strength like I am now. Nothing will fry your CNS to a greater extent. And for a longer period of time. Then those 10+ seconds grinders. Which are basically last reps and taking it to a complete failure. Complete concentric failure. The only thing I found so far. Being even remotely close in terms of how much it fries your CNS. Is failing 1 rep max attempts. But yes it's hardcore yes. I believe every lifter should actually go through it. Just to see what he's made of. And to truly understand how a true concentric failure feels like. But let's put it this way. And the reason why I'm basically responding to this video. And responding to this comment. If there's a possibility your last rep will look like this. Just stop the set. Just leave that rep in reserve. Primarily because you already probably maximized hypertrophy response. With that set you're close enough to contractile failure. And you won't really benefit in terms of hypertrophy from that rep. But the amount of CNS fatigue you'll accumulate is well. Just not worth the effort. Because you'll probably be f*cked up for the next couple of days. Even if you're not fully aware of it. And again I'm not even talking about the complete concentric failure. Because sometimes. You can reach complete failure without having a 10+ second grinder. I've been there done that. And again it's just not worth it. And it's coming from a guy whose whole life revolves around training. I can dedicate my whole f*cking day to recovery. You won't be able to recover from those grinders in the next 24. 48 72 hours. And also keep in mind we have plethora of studies showing training. Just close enough to contractile failure. Is enough to maximize hypertrophy response. Hypertrophy stimulus to maximize growth. So it's just a low return on investment. Yes it is hardcore. Yes it looks badass. So yeah to answer to this guy's question loud and clear. Yeah his CNS will be fried for a couple of days after this.
