Smothered turkey necks over rice with that thick gravy?! 😮💨🔥 Tender, flavorful, and worth every minute! Now the real question… one plate of oxtails or one plate of turkey necks, which one are you grabbing FIRST? 👀 @Momma Jones #TurkeyNecks #SmotheredTurkeyNecks #SoulFoodRecipes #SouthernCooking #SundayDinner So baby, I'm gonna stick beside 'em. First things first, and this is why I say you can't eat it everybody house. Clean your turkey necks. All that extra skin off. Nobody wants a turtle neck on their turkey neck. Okay? And don't forget the insides. You see that white stuff? Yeah, get that out. Then I let mine soak in some vinegar and water and gave them a really good wash. Drizzle with a little olive oil, then season them real good. I'm using onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, lemon, and Momma Jones' famous all-purpose seasoning. Baby, I love the spice level on this one. Add some all-purpose seasoning. Add some to your pot and brown your meat first. Brown your turkey necks on all sides. About three or four minutes per side. Once they look like this, take them out, but do not clean that pot. Add half a cup of butter and a half a cup of flour and whisk together. Then add about two cups of onion and bell pepper and let those cook down. I had some chicken broth. So I used that to deglaze the pot and get all that goodness from the bottom. Add two cups of water and whisk and look at that gravy coming together. Put your turkey necks back in and don't leave out that juice from the bowl. That's flavor. Add enough water to cover and then season that gravy. Season that gravy with those same seasonings. Cover and let these cook low and slow for about two and a half to three hours until they are tender. I whipped up some honey butter cornbread and served these turkey necks over rice with plenty of that thick gravy.
