Part 25. Welcome to the portion of the divorce where apparently everybody is in high school except me. At this point, I have finally gotten my stuff out of the house. Jack and the girlfriend break up. Great. Fantastic. One less thing for me to think about. Except… apparently not. Because then I find out they’re talking again, working on their relationship, communicating basically every day — but when I reach back out to her, I’m being told they’re not together. And listen, I don’t know what technical definition we’re using here. Are we dating? Are we talking? Are we committed? Are we on a break? Do we need to pass a note in seventh-period algebra and circle yes or no? I don’t care what y’all are calling it. I care because my children are involved. I already had concerns from previous things I’d learned, including my very young daughter being encouraged to use a mom-type name for another woman. So from my perspective, this wasn’t me being nosy about Jack’s dating life. I was trying to understand who was around my kids and what role they were being given in their lives. So when I’m getting one story while believing something completely different is happening behind the scenes? Yeah. I feel like y’all are playing directly in my face. And meanwhile, because apparently this storyline needed another subplot, I’m also having to go get a biopsy. And I’ve picked up a second job because I am trying to keep everything afloat financially while the support situation is still a complete mess. So just to recap: I’m got my stuff out of my marital home, trying to co-parent, working two jobs, trying to figure out who is around my children, getting relationship whiplash from two grown adults who cannot seem to decide what they are… and I’m on my way to get a biopsy. I was tired. I was pissed off. And I had absolutely no idea that the biopsy was about to make all of this feel very, very small.
