Watch Me, Part 29. At this point, I’m talking to the girlfriend’s friends, and they’re starting to realize that the version of Jack they’ve been given may not be the whole story. And there’s something I really haven’t wanted to talk about publicly. For a long time, I helped keep parts of Jack’s past quiet. I didn’t want people to know certain things. I didn’t want to embarrass him. I didn’t want to make things worse. And if I’m being completely transparent, I think part of me was also scared of what would happen if I stopped protecting him. One of those things was a past felony charge involving alleged threats. And I think that matters to this story, not because I’m trying to sensationalize his past, but because fear became a very real part of the dynamic around him. When Jack decides you’re on his bad side, he can come at you hard with his words. He can talk in circles. He can change the argument halfway through the conversation. You can walk away wondering how you somehow became the problem. And he is GOOD at talking. Smooth. Confident. Convincing. So eventually, people just don’t want to deal with him. They don’t want the headache. They don’t want to be the next person he’s angry with. And from my perspective, that has allowed a lot of behavior to continue because sometimes keeping the peace feels easier than challenging him. I know because I did it too. I kept things quiet. I protected his reputation. I tried to manage everything behind closed doors. #whotfdidimarry
