I was a dumbass so you don't have to be. I currently have the iPhone 17 Pro Max. I ordered the iPhone 18 Pro Max in beetroot, I mean burgundy. Silver or the black, or literally anything but burgundy and blue. Nevertheless, Apple promises upgrades. It's worse than I thought. For their general promises of upgrading performance and battery life which I can't even remember actually fully utilizing. Aye, aye, aye. You also get what they call variable aperture, which is probably the biggest change this year. You can now actually set your more less your camera, whether you want a lot of depth of field or not in your camera, the biggest upgrade is a software thing. You can now set your actual white balance and only iPhone users what I'm saying here. Usually you get some janky ass white balance on your iPhone. It just does weird ass shit all the time. Now you can tell it. No purple, no green. I want white. You also get a smaller dynamic island, which is much smaller. But if you look carefully right in the corner, the face recognition sensor has been moved to underneath the screen. If you put a matte screen protector on, you will not have face ID. So that's a fair warning. And as a last fair warning, we saw a lot of reviews on the heat of the iPhone 18 Pro Maxes versus the iPhone 17 Pro Maxes. They added a whole new vapor chamber design inside of the new device because the new chip is much stronger, so it makes a lot of heat. Problem is what we see on the cameras is that the 18 Pro Max gets hotter than the 17 Pro Max. And yes, it does. However, the 18 Pro Max also cools down faster. And that's because they actually designed it to get the heat away from the chip as soon as possible instead of trying to keep the whole device cool. Because the whole device doesn't need to be cool. It's just where the chip is that needs to be cool. So your overall performance stays higher for longer than you would have on the 17 Pro Max. So in summary, is it worth buying the 18 Pro or Pro Max? Well, just not in this color. And also not if you have a 17 Pro Max, 16 Pro Max or a 15 Pro Max. Or a Huawei, then it's worth upgrading.
