Cr!tical M!stakes to Avoid in the Third Trimester 1. Lying Flat on Your Back: Avoid sleeping or lying flat on your back, as the weight of the uterus can compress the inferior vena cava (a major vein), reducing blood flow to your baby and making you dizzy. 2.Sleep on your side, preferably the left side, using pillows for support. 3. Ignoring Decreased Fetal Movement: Pay close attention to your baby’s kick counts and movement patterns. If you notice a sudden drop or absence of movement, contact your healthcare provider immediately. 4. Skipping Hydration and Nutrition: Dehydration can trigger Braxton Hicks contractions or premature labor. Drink plenty of water and eat small, nutrient-dense meals throughout the day. 5. Overexertion and Lifting Heavy Objects: Avoid strenuous lifting, intense exercise, or physical strain that puts pressure on your pelvis, back, or abdomen. Overlooking Warning Signs: Never ignore signs like vaginal bleeding, fluid leakage, severe headache, sudden swelling in your face/hands, vision changes, or regular painful contractions. 6. Travelling Far Without Approval: Avoid traveling long distances or flying late in the third trimester without consulting your obstetrician or midwife first.
