STOP buying char siu at restaurants and make it easily at home. Too many people buy this Chinese barbecue pork or char siu at restaurants when it's so easy to make. And it's one of my favorite dishes of all time. Start by taking a slab pork shoulder and cutting it into thick strips. Then combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, shaoxing wine, honey, garlic, five spice powder, and optional red food coloring. Marinate the pork overnight and save a little extra sauce for basting. Then air fry the pork, flipping and basting it twice throughout the cooking time until the outside is slightly charred and the inside perfectly juicy.
